For most of human history, wagons, pulled by man or animal, were the way move things around. The evolution of these machine is long, but slow changing. The cheapening of metal was a huge step forward, allowing the wheels to be tied with a metal ring. This allowed the wheels to be bigger, lighter and more durable.

The Two Wheeled Wagon

The simple design of this wagon makes it affordable to many working lad. Big wheels reduce the chance of getting stuck in unhardened roads and reduce friction. A big heavy axle below the carriage provides strength and stability. This wagon would have been pulled by a horse or a donkey, but could also be pulled by a man.
